In this year, as a consequence of the impending Napoleonic War, the Government needed to raise additional money Farmers were required to pay the sum of Two Shillings in tax for each working horse they owned (36 Geo. III, Cap xv.) Currently you will find the Buittle and Kirkgunzeon horse tax lists online.
