William B Scogings completes that necessary paper work to obtain
homestead land in Piute County, Utah.
He started the process of obtaining the land in December 1877,
the final patent was issued in October 1886.
- He Declares his intention to become a citizen of the United States on
September 27, 1877 at the court in Beaver, Utah.(He must be a citizen to obtain the homestead land)
- He settles and applies for homestead land described as follows:
E 1/2 SE 1/4, section 29; W 1/2 SW 1/4, section 28; township 27 South, range 3 West; 160 acres
- The land is about 1 1/2 miles south of Marysvale in a farming
community described as Thompsonville.
- He makes the necessary improvements to the land and files homestead proof.
in August 1884. (homestead proof is a preprinted form which the claimant and witnesses
complete that details the homestead)
- The final patent is issued in October 1886 sometime after he had died.
