  	according to a hand written diary by Mary Ann's brother Henry Waspe. ...I was born in Suffolk, England on the 23rd September 1845, and came out to South Africa, the early part of the year 1850. After a fairly good voyage, we arrived at Cape Town, about the 1st May the same year. The vessel we came by was the Dutches of Northumberland. Captain Freemantle, "Master"... The only possibility with a ship with that name and a captain named Freeman is a voyage that left London July 30 1847
