- Alton P. Scoggings, 31 of Bountiful died Wednesday in a local hospital as the result of blood poisioning and the amputation of his right leg, following the bruising of the calf of the leg more than a month ago. While repairing an automobile at the Antelope Springs CCC Camp, near Hinckley, Mr. Scoggins was struck by a loose steel bar. He did not consider the bruise serious, but after his return to Bountiful, he became ill a the home of his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Briggs, and was removed to the hospital Feb. 28. Blood poisoning had set in, according to physicians, and the leg was amputated Monday in an effort to save his life. At the time of his death, he was a machinist of the division of grazing, for the CCC Camp. He was born June 6, 1905, at Bennett, and came to Salt Lake City to live when he was six years old. He had lived here until a year ago, when he was transferred to the Antelope Springs camp by the division of grazing. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Lenora Briggs Scoggings; two daughters, Helen and Carol Scoggings; and eight brothers and sisters: Russell and Arden Scoggings of Roosevelt; Mrs. Amy Smith of American Fork; W.D. Scoggings of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Harmon Scoggings of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Netti Ferry and Mrs. Ella Rehbock of San Francisco, Calif. Funeral services will be held in the Bountiful First Ward Chapel Sunday at 12:30 p.m. under the direction of Bishop Quayle Cannon. Interment will be in the Bountiful Cemetery.
