- Final Rites Held at Antimony for Susie Thompson: Funeral Services were held in the L.D.S. chapel Tuesday at 12 for Mrs. Susie S. Thompson, wife of Homer C. Thompson, who died at the Sevier Valley hospital Saturday following a stroke and heart attack. Bishop H.S. Gleave was in charge of the services and the choir sang "Sometime We'll Understand." The invocation was offered by Ward Savage, and was followed by "I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go," by the choir. The first speaker was DeVere Hall, who spoke of the meekness and humility of Sister Thompson, and of the hope in our hearts for eternal life. Clara Belle Savage, President of the Antimony Relief Society paid a high tribute to the deceased, telling of her work in the society and of her friendliness to everyone. Burns Black, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Black, rendered a solo, "That Silver Haired Mother of Mine." He was followed by Lynn Lay of Marysvale a neighbor and friend of the Thompsons when they lived at Thompsonville. He gave a brief history of the deceased. Thomas DeLange of Richfield sang, "Oh My Mother," and G.W. Coons, former Bishop of the Third Ward of Richfield, told of their life while in Richfield. He also read the poem, "Only One Mother," by Joseph E. Carlson. Bishop H.S. Gleave spoke of her as a good neighbor and paid high tribute to the entire family. After the choir sang, " I Know That My Redeemer Lives," the benediction was offered by Lamond Riddle, and, at the request of Mr. Thompson, the casket was opened so that their friends might see her for the last time. The body was taken to Marysvale for interment by the side of her loved ones who preceeded her in death. Susie S. Thompson was born in Rockville, Utah, February 1, 1867, a daughter of William P. and Susan Page Schogings. She was married to Homer C. Thompson at Marysvale on December 25, 1889, and they made their home there until 1917 when they moved to Richfield, remaining in Richfield until 1925, when they moved to Antimony, where they have since resided. She was the mother of eight children, six of whom survive her. Besides her husband she is survived by the following children. Mrs. Ella T. Nay, Black Rock; Mrs. Ethel T Savage, Antimony; Mrs. Alice Metzner, Troy, Montana; Wallace C., Harold H. and George Thompson, all of Antimony. Fourteen grandchildren also survive. Neither Mrs. Metzner nor Mrs. Savage were able to attend the services. The high respect that Mrs. Thompson and her family were held in the community was tesified to by the large crowd and the many beautiful flowers. Friends were from Richfield, Marysvale, Junction, Circleville, Kingston, and Widstoe, who had come to pay their final tribute to a life well lived, to a fine wife and mother, and a friend, who lived by the side of the road and made everyone welcome to her home. Personally we had known the Thompsons for many years and can say of Mrs. Thompson, "If fault you have, those faults I could not see," her splendid family is proof of the kind of woman she was. Because of her loving home tendencies she will be missed every minute of their waking hours, but we can say she has accomplished her work, her mission is done and her tired body can rest.
