- Jeffery's Will in 1737 shows a connection of Ursula as he gives money to James Battell. The records show that a Ursula Gildersleve married a George Battle in 1706. It also indicates that he has a sister Esther Gildersleve who is a spinister.
Esther's will in 1848 gives money to William, Robert, and Elizabeth Woodruff who she indicates are her nephews and neice. The records show that Anne Gildersleve married William Woodrofe in 1712. She also mentions her nephew James Bally (need to check the original will for clarification of spelling) who has 6 sons and 1 daughter. There is also the mystery of how Esther a spinster acquired so much wealth.
The Wills tie together the 3 siblings and added confusion of James Battle, Battell, Bally, or Backler
Esther Will indicates that James Bally had 6 sons and 1 Daughter as of 1748. The registered will uses the spelling Bally. Jeffery's Will in 1737 gave money to James Battell of Marlesham. A check of the Martlesham Parish Registers only shows a James Backler and Mary with three children. One of the Children, Jeffery Backler was baptized in 1737. A Jeffery Battle was married in 1762 in Burgh Parish
